"Please Don't Kick My Ladder" Judge Andrea Boyd's Journey from Attorney to Chief Judge

Judge Andrea Boyd was sworn in as the Chief Judge of the McDonough Municipal Court on July 28, 2022. She received a B.S. degree from Troy University and a Juris Doctor from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School in 2013.

Judge Boyd began her legal career in 1989 as a paralegal. While attending law school, Judge Boyd continued to work as a paralegal with the law firm of Seyfarth Shaw LLP in Atlanta, Georgia. After graduating from law school, Judge Boyd continued her employment with Seyfarth Shaw LLP as an associate attorney. Thereafter, in 2016, Judge Boyd founded The Price Boyd Law Firm, a boutique law firm specializing in family law and personal injury, in McDonough, Georgia. Judge Boyd has a heart for public service and community. She was motivated to start her own firm because she wanted to serve the people in the community where she lived. Judge Boyd coined her journey from big law to private practice as “From Paper to People.”

Throughout her legal career, Judge Boyd has been associated with numerous professional, philanthropic and community organizations. She has received numerous awards for her legal and community service. Judge Boyd has been active in national, state and local bar activities. She is a member of the American Bar Association, Georgia Bar Association, Henry County Bar Association, Gate City Bar Association and Council of Municipal Court Judges. Judge Boyd is a founding member of the Advisory Board of Directors for the Shaquille O’Neal Boys & Girls Club of Henry County. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
