The Henry County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. proudly hosted its 5th Annual Junior Tank on February 25, 2024, at the prestigious Merle Manders Conference Center in Stockbridge, delivering an unforgettable experience. Sponsored by Mayor Anthony S. Ford, this event marked a significant milestone as we forge ahead in our mission to empower young entrepreneurs.
With over 125 attendees, our event showcased the entrepreneurial spirit of our community. Over the course of four months, we provided comprehensive mentorship and coaching to six budding businesses, guiding them through the fundamentals of business development, marketing strategies, branding techniques, and the creation or enhancement of their business plans. Through tailored guidance, participants learned how to refine and amplify their business concepts, ensuring their readiness to pitch their ideas effectively.
Among the eight exceptionally talented children, divided into two categories: ages 8-13 and 14-18, participants honed their skills and crafted compelling pitches to present to our esteemed panel of judges. We gave away over $5000 in cash and prizes.
In the 8-13 category, Melrose Magic Candle clinched 2nd place, earning a $600 prize, while Butterfly Leaders soared to 1st place, securing a $1000 prize.
In the 14-18 category, Good Girls Cosmetics and Vibe Alone each received a $250 award, with Charmed by Shannie B claiming 2nd place and a $600 prize. Cakin with M&M impressed the judges to take home 1st place, earning a $1000 prize.
All participants were honored with valuable rewards, including a feature in Game Changers Magazine, vending opportunities at the Women in Business Expo and Market by Macy's, and a one-year business mentorship program.
In addition to showcasing their businesses, vendors collectively earned over $4000, contributing to a robust economic footprint. The Junior Tank brand was further established with a distinctive logo, and a custom backdrop for the event.
The overwhelmingly positive feedback from parents and participants fuels our enthusiasm for next year's endeavors. Together, let's continue to make a significant impact through our empowering programming. We eagerly anticipate your support for our future events.
