Tuesday January 10, 2023 Hampton, GA- American Legion Post 330 of Hampton, GA partnered local elected officials Mayor Ann Tarpley, City of Hampton and Commissioner Johnny Wilson, Henry County BOC District 1 to present a check to sponsor Hampton Middle School football team jerseys. HMS 7 grade team recently won the Henry County Schools football championship of 2022 under the leadership of Coach Fred Braswell, Enginnering Teacher and 7th & 8th grad Football Coach, as the #1 8th grade team in the county. Mayor Ann Tarpley spoke an encouraging word to inspire the young boys to not only be great on the football field but excelling in the classroom earning good grades. Commissioner Johnny Wilson also spoke with the young boys on staying in the game reflecting on UGAs victory over TCU in the CFL National Championship game.
Jerry Thomas, a local business owner at Southern Homes spoke on entrepreneurship and the importance of creating your own path to success. Many of these young boys also serve in the JROTC at HMS recieving an inspiring message on discipline and civic leadership. Congratulations to the champions at HMS on winning the Henry County Championship and special thanks to the American Legion Post 330 for giving back to the community! Lets continue to support our youth in all areas of excellence.
